Bluest Notes

Technically speaking, the “blue notes” are pitches in the pentatonic scale that can be flattened or sharpened within the blues scale (Pentablues). Stylistically speaking, the blue notes exist between standard notes and they make up the greatest American art form.

Discover these “Bluest Notes” with Host DJ Badge while venturing through all the Jazz idioms — Bebop to Hard Bop, Modal to Free Jazz — exploring chords, rhythms and melodies. Delve into the greats like Horace Silver, Hank Mobley, Eric Dolphy, Jackie McLean, Stanley Turrentine, Freddie Hubbard and Joe Henderson, just to name a few. You’ll spend some time with contemporary artists as well, including the likes of saxophonist Melissa Aldana, trumpeter Nicholas Payton and singer Gregory Porter.

Every Monday from 7pm to 9pm Pacific Time. You Dig?
