Jazz Swamp

Here in the Jazz Swamp, you’ll find a healthy mélange of the legends of traditional Jazz & country Blues, from the Bayous and Basin Street to the Crossroads and clubs scenes up north. A free-flowing mix of these great American art forms — the musical signatures of this country. As the Smithsonian’s Behring Center  says, “Jazz is about making something familiar – a familiar song – into something fresh. And about making something shared – a tune that everyone knows – into something personal.” These are just some of the reasons why some people refer to Jazz as, ‘America’s classical music.’

From Rockin’ Doopsie & Clifton Chenier to Lightnin’ Hopkins & Big Mama Thornton; Wanda Jackson to Big Bad Voodoo Daddy; Scott Joplin & The Meters, plus Ornette Coleman and some Sun Ra to boot! Swamp, Stomp, Swing, Ragtime, Bee Bop, Cool Jazz, Free Jazz… And SO MUCH MORE!

-Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays: 4am to 6am Eastern Time – 09;00 to 11;00 GMT.
